What Is MVP Health Care?

MVP Health Care is a NYSHIP-participating HMO available to New York State employees in the Hudson Valley, Capital Region, and parts of Central and Western New York. If you're a state or local government employee in the Poughkeepsie area, mid-Hudson Valley, or parts of the Capital Region and selected MVP as your NYSHIP plan, MVP administers your behavioral health benefits.

Like all NYSHIP plans, MVP must comply with the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act — meaning addiction treatment coverage must be equivalent to coverage for any medical condition.

MVP covers medically supervised detox and residential addiction treatment when clinically indicated and prior authorized.

Buprenorphine (Suboxone) is covered under MVP's pharmacy benefit. Vivitrol is covered as a medical benefit.
